Morrison Engineers was founded in January of 1988 by Tom Morrison as and engineering firm specializing in Structural Engineering. Over the subsequent years, Tom’s attention to detail and deliberate focus on how a design comes to life in the field, led the Company to begin providing Construction Engineering and consulting services. This same mindset eventually bred the Construction Division of Morrison Engineers, and in 2007 the Company became a General Contractor licensed in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia providing specialty design build construction services focusing on excavation support systems, deep foundations and foundation underpinning. Today, the firm benefits from a healthy blend of structural and construction engineering projects, in addition to a unique array of construction projects. The firm currently includes 3 Professional Engineers, licensed in over twenty states, and is an Unlimited-Unclassified General Contractor in North Carolina as well as holding Licenses in South Carolina and Virginia. At Morrison Engineers it is always our ultimate goal and desire to establish personal and lasting relationships with our clients by providing creative and economical designs while emphasizing service and quality. STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING: Our structural engineering project history includes design of office buildings, schools, mixed use buildings, pedestrian bridges, parking decks, and retrofit construction of historical and aged industrial buildings. These designs encompass multi-story steel frame structures, post-tensioned concrete, cast-in-place reinforced concrete, light framed wood and cold formed metal stud construction, and load bearing masonry, among others. CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING & CONSULTING: Our construction engineering and consulting services include providing design support for key specialty components of a typically broader project. These designs help ensure that a contractor successfully completes that component of the job in a safe and economical manner. Our construction engineering project history includes designing large diameter trenchless utility crossings, bridge work trestles and crane work platforms, scaffolding and reshoring, formwork and falsework, excavation support, and deep foundations, to name a few. GEOSTRUCTURAL CONSTRUCTION: Morrison Engineers Geostructural Construction Design Build Services include Earth Retention Systems, Deep Foundations, and Foundation Underpinning. The Earth Retention Systems we currently install are; Driven and Drilled Soil Nails with a permeable facing for short term temporary support. Drilled Soil Nails with a shotcrete facing for long term or permanent support. Driven and Drilled Soldier Piles (cantilevered, braced or anchored) for temporary or permanent support. Sheet Piles (cantilevered or anchored) for temporary or permanent support. The Deep Foundation Systems we currently install are; Micropiles. Helical (Screw) Piles. Pressed In Pipe Piles. The Foundation Underpinning Systems we currently install are; Concrete or Pit Underpinning for long term or permanent support. Micropiles for long term or permanent support. Helical (Screw) Piles for short term temporary support. Pressed In Pipe Piles for short term temporary support.
