Elagin Architecture, Inc. (PA Architecture Firm License AX011082) is a S-Class Corporation formed in 2012 by Sergei C. Matveiev, AIA (A Registered Architect holding licenses in several States). Elagin Architecture’s primary service offerings include architectural design, code consulting, expert witnessing and government liaison services. As part of the code consulting side of the firm, eai holds a Third-Party Agency Certification from the Commonwealth (Agency Number A00318). That bandwidth of offerings is built upon Mr. Matveiev’s years of experience as both an Architect and as a Municipal Building Code Official (BCO). The majority of architectural services performed by the firm involve the renovation of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s vast inventory of 100+ year-old existing structures. Oftentimes, the projects are Historic Landmarks and require restraint and innovation for approval by Boards having oversight of registered edifices. Additionally, the success of projects involving older building stock is intrinsically linked to having expertise in archaic forms of construction, and such knowledge can only be acquired through years of experience in the field. Elagin Architecture considers it a privilege & a responsibility to preserve these important buildings, and has had the good fortune to work on some of the region’s most renowned examples (with award-winning results). A short list of eai Architectural Services and Consulting Services projects includes the Carnegie Institute in Oakland, Clayton, The Union Trust Building, The Gulf Tower, Carnegie Library – Homewood Branch and Carnegie Library - Mount Washington Branch. Over the years, Elagin Architecture has built a long list of repeat clientele, most notably the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Combined, these two vital cultural institutions have engaged with eai over 80 times for projects ranging in scope from minor alterations to multi-million-dollar capital improvements. This important work has been at the core Elagin Architecture’s practice, and eai is grateful to be among the trusted design professionals charged with the caretaking of our local built heritage.
